Her professional career has been centered around American films and television. Veronica Cartwright played Cathy Brenner in the iconic Alfred Hitchcock 1963 horror film The Birds. She was just 13 when she was cast. Bonanza was one of the first television westerns to be broadcast in colour. The film focused on the Cartwrights which was a fictional family of ranchers who lived in close proximity to Virginia City Nevada a real mining town in the mid 1800s. The actor played the younger Cartwright son whose mother (Felicia during the pilot, and later changed to Marie) was a widow, and mother whose child had passed away from the fever (episode Marie My Love) was of French Creole descent.
