Despacito was a track from the year 2017 that was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It became the top streamed track worldwide within just 6 months. The song is a blend of pop music and reggaeton has not just brought attention to reggaeton but it also attracted attention towards Latin music more generally. Billboard's Top 100 included four mostly Spanish tracks in 2016 compared with two for 2015. However, during the heights of Despacito's fame in 2017 there were 19 mainly Spanish songs that were included in the top 100. In 2020, it was 41. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017 and soon after the most well-known artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny for the production of MIA (2018) as well as Madonna worked on Medellin along with Maluma (2019). The gradual mainstreaming of reggaeton became an issue for certain performers in 2020. Rauw alejandro and a younger generation were keen to keep the look. He often used electronic dance as well as different styles.
